This safari to Mt Meru, Samburu and Masai Mara combines one of Africa’s greatest conservation projects with one of the world’s most spectacular wilderness areas. The trip is stylish, personal and uses a combination of very different camps in spectacular settings. Activities range from day and night game drives to excellent guided walks that follow tracks through abunadant game areas, balloon safaris are also worth considering here. The guides are knowledgeable and experienced and if you choose the dry season, you could be in the Mara watching wildebeest thunder right past your tent.
ITINERARY:
Day 1 Nairobi – Meru
Guests will be collected early from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or a city hotel and transferred to Wilson Airport for the scheduled flight to Meru. The flight departs Nairobi at 0915hrs and arrives into Meru airstrip at approx. 1025hrs. Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide from the lodge for a game drive en route to the lodge. Following lunch, there will be an afternoon game drive returning to lodge as the sun sets.

Elsa’s Kopje
Named for Elsa the orphaned lioness reared by George and Joy, this private hideaway is perched on top of Mugwongo Hill, the site of George Adamson’s first camp. This park is renowned for its low rainfall, yet at the same time thirteen rivers and numerous streams run off the nearby mountains to provide an arid landscape laced with ribbons of green. From your cottage you will enjoy a 270-degree view of the surrounding park with its scattered kopjes and mysterious baobab trees. The open plan rooms are individually designed, incorporating the rocks into the structure. Traditional African-made furniture, bright ikat fabrics and whitewashed walls are simple yet superbly comfortable and stylishly effective. There is a swimming pool, game drives (day and night – note KWS activity charge for night game drives payable directly) are in open 4×4 vehicles and walks are accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist. The food is of a very high standard and the service is excellent.
Day 2 Meru
Rising at dawn with tea and coffee, then a game drive before breakfast, catching the animals before the heat of the day sets in. Then further game drives throughout the day before returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

Day 3 Meru

Day 4 Meru – Samburu
After breakfast guest will transfer to Meru airstrip for their schedule flight to Samburu. Flight departs Meru at 1035hrs and arrives into Samburu at 1100hrs. On arrival at the airstrip you will be met by a driver guide and taken to the camp. After lunch and perhaps a siesta, enjoy the list of activities available from here, these include day game drives, bush walks, bush breakfast and sundowners.
Overnight at Joys Camp on full board basis, including soft drinks, beer, house wine, activities and limited laundry.
Day 5 Samburu
Full day of activities including day game drives, bush walks, bush breakfast and sundowners.

Day 6 Samburu – Masai Mara
After an early morning game drive, continue to Samburu airstrip for scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. The flight departs Samburu at 0930hrs and arrives into Masai Mara at 1120hrs. Upon arrival guests will be met by camps vehicles and taken for lunch, followed by an afternoon of game activities.

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara
Located on the banks of a river from which it has taken its name, Sand River Masai Mara is located within the Masai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border. The Camp is situated in the prime core of the protected Mara North Conservancy wilderness area. In the same location for 20 years, one of the original, very small and exclusive tented camps. A small boutique camp, our spacious canvas tents are stylishly furnished with Indian “Raj campaign furniture”, and feature ensuite bathrooms with flush toilets and traditional safari showers. Nothing rivals sitting around the campfire enjoying the sounds of the African night. Enjoying extended game drives in the best equipped 4×4 game drive vehicles, guests participate in the most unique wildlife experience in the world. Elephant Pepper Camp brings people back to nature: no traffic, no permanent structures, just the sights and sounds of the African bush.
Day 7 Masai Mara
The day is filled with morning and afternoon activities including game drives, guided bush walks, bush breakfast and sundowners.

Day 9 Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast and an early morning game drive, clients will continue to the airstrip for their scheduled flight to Nairobi. The flight departs Masai Mara at 1110hrs and arrives into Nairobi Wilson airport at 1245hrs. Upon arrival at Wilson airport guest will be met and transferred for their onward travel arrangements to the city centre hotel or Nairobi JKI airport. End of our services.

Passenger Information:
Passengers should bring only soft sided bags on safaris.
All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them for internal flights.
Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15kgs per person (including hand luggage). Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in.
